Butler Wins Another Big One At Home

by Sol Brenneman

On Friday night at Hinkle Field House, The Butler Bulldogs tore up the Cleveland State Vikings' offense. The Vikings didn't know what hit them. The championship team is back and hungry for more. In the first 10 minutes of the game Butler forced Cleveland State to turn the ball over 8 times. Letting Butler go on a 16-2 run to take control of the game early. The first 10 minutes were the worst start to a game Cleveland State has had all year.

“I have to give Butler all the credit tonight.” Vikings' Coach Gary Waters said. They came ready to play and they whooped our butt. They took it to us from the start and got us out of our flow on offense and defense. The score when 21-4 when finally The Vikings realize that they are playing basketball. Tim Kamczyc of Cleveland State hits a 3 to end The Vikings' Drought. Then a little later the vikings get 6 quick points including and NBA 3 by Norris Cole to make it 26-13. Halftime score is 42-23. Everyone is thinking that Cleveland State just had a bad start. They will realize they need to put there mind to it and pull this game out.

But second half comes around and the 19 point lead is too much to come back from. The Vikings' shooting was not helping anything. Only 9 for 25 from the field the first half. The Bulldogs kept there 20 point lead most of the second half. Norris Cole was the man keeping them alive the whole game. He had 26 points and 10 rebounds. But a one man show does not get you anywhere. The Vikings hung with them most of them the rest of the game but that first 10 minutes of the game threw the team off. This is uncharacteristic of The Vikings to start the game bad. Butler came out and took it to them there is not much more you can say. Final score Butler 79, Cleveland state 56.
